Iris Minish Canipe

January 1, 1914 — August 4, 2005

Elkin Mrs. Iris Minish Canipe, age 91, widow of Johnny Canipe of Jonesville, passed away August 4, 2005 at Hugh Chatham Nursing Center. Mrs. Canipe was born January 1, 1914 in Elkin to the late Richard and Rosa Thompson Minish. She was a lifelong and devoted member of Jonesville United Methodist Church where she served as Librarian and Sunday school teacher. Mrs. Canipe taught second grade at Jonesville Elementary school for 39 years and was a member of the Eastern Star and had received her 50 year service pin. She was preceded in death by a brother, Sgt. Russell B. Minish and sisters, Frances M. Hoffman, and Rosalie M. Katz. She is survived by sisters, Camilla M. Pardue and Elizabeth M. Fisher and several loving and devoted nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, August 7, 2005 at Jonesville United Methodist Church with Rev. Bobby Swaim officiating. Burial will follow in Sunrise Cemetery in Jonesville. The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 6, 2005 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to Jonesville United Methodist Church 305 West Main Street, Jonesville, NC 28642. Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin is serving the Canipe Family.
