Ruth Betty Redfern

August 28, 1923 — July 19, 2005

State Road, Mrs. Ruth Betty Redfern, age 81, of Club Haven Drive, passed away Tuesday, July 19, 2005 at Hugh Chatham Nursing Center. Mrs. Redfern was born August 28, 1923 in Gloucester Essex, Massachusetts to Richard K. and Ruth Harris Saunders. Mrs. Redfern was married to William H. Redfern on August 16, 1944 and was a resident of Charlotte since 1945. She retired from Rexham in 1989, and was an active member of the First Christian Church for 25 years. She recently has been a friend to South Park Christian Church, and was a volunteer at Loaves and Fishes and Shepherd Centers. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband William H. Redfern in 1969, and a son William H. Redfern, Jr. in 2001. Survivors include: a daughter Ellen R. Hillyer and husband Robert of State Road, Six grandchildren and three great grandchildren. A graveside service will be held Saturday, July 23, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at Evergreen cemetery by Rev. Joyce Dennis. The family request that memorials be made to Habitat for Humanity. Online condolences may be made at www.hodgesfuneralhomeinc.com.
