Elkin Mr. Keith Edward Combs, age 58, a loving and beloved, husband, father, son, grandfather and brother, of Johnson Ridge Road, passed away Sunday, March 18, 2007 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. Mr. Combs was born December 18, 1948 in Surry County to Lee Roy "Bud" & Laura Marie Park Combs. Mr. Combs was Vice President and Elkin City Executive of Yadkin Valley Bank where he was employed for 31 years. He was a graduate of University of North Carolina Chapel Hill School of Banking and School of Banking of the South at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, LA. Mr. Combs was a member of Friendship Baptist Church where he served on the Finance Committee and he served on the Executive and Finance Committees of Elkin Baptist Association. Keith served on the Elkin City School Board and was Vice Chairman of Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital Board of Trustees. He was also a member of Yadkin Valley Rotary Club, president of CC Camp Volunteer Fire Department, and Elks Club. Mr. Combs was co-owner of Combs Butcher Shop and in partnership of Federal Financial Services and Starmount Enterprises. Keith was an avid golfer and had a passion for automobiles and enjoyed the annual Clam Bake. He loved giving his time volunteering at Theo's annual Thanksgiving Meal. Survivors include: His wife, Jo Ann Nelson Combs of the home; a daughter, Andrea Combs Poindexter and husband Rob of Elkin; his father and mother, Bud & Marie Park Combs of Elkin; a brother, Jeff Combs of Elkin; a sister, Elaine Combs Coe and husband Ralph of Dobson, three grandchildren, Aaron Poindexter, Anna Poindexter and Ben Poindexter. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 21, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at Friendship Baptist Church by Rev. Wesley Smith and Rev. Jonah Parker. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mr. Combs will lie instate 30 minutes prior to the service. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00-9:00 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin.
