Elkin Mr. Grover Marshall Durham, age 89, of Austin Traphill Road, passed away Friday December 30, 2005 at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital. Mr. Durham was born March 18, 1916 in Alleghany County to Charles Watson and Annie McCann Durham. Mr. Durham retired from Chatham Manufacturing and was a member of Austin Baptist Church. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wives, Cooper Jolly Durham, Frances Martin Durham, Sylvia Lawrence Durham and two brothers, Hurbert Durham and Vester Durham. Survivors include: two sons: Grover Dalon Durham and Wallace Watson Durham and his wife Dinah all of Roaring River. Step children, Bobby Martin and his wife Alma of Ronda, Betty Blackburn and husband Marvin of N. Wilkesboro, Carol Sparks and husband David of N. Wilkesboro, Faye Sparks and husband Donald of Boomer, Jenny Lyles and husband Wayne of State Road, Judy Callaway and husband Johnny of Ronda, Mike Lawrence and wife Ann of Charlotte, Beverly Lawrence Mastin of Elkin. Two grandchildren, one great grandchild. Twelve step grandchildren and eleven step great grandchildren. A sister, Ruth Dameron and her husband Ivan. Funeral services will be held Monday January 2, 2006 at 11:00 am at Charity United Methodist Church by Rev. Ivan Dameron and Rev. Jack Osborne. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mr. Durham will lie instate thirty minutes prior to the service. The family will receive friends Sunday from 6-8pm at Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin.
