Elkin Mr. Daniel Bartley Creed, age 88, of Johnson Ridge Road, passed away Thursday, April 13, 2006 at Elkin Healthcare Center. Mr. Creed was born February 13, 1918 in Wilkes County to Daniel Morgan & Carrie Couch Creed. Mr. Creed was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and was retired owner/operator of Green Leaf Nursery. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lizzie Swaim Creed; three sisters, Florence Cockerham, Mae Collins and Margaret Morrison. Survivors include: a half brother, Curtis W. Creed; three half sisters, Carrie Ruth Martin, Mildred Marie Pack and Flora Jewel Smith; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 15, 2006 at 4:00 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Bobby Norman. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 3:00-4:00 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home.
