Bonnie Lea Carter

August 15, 1944 — April 19, 2004

Jonesville Mrs. Bonnie Lea Carter, age 59, of South River Ridge Road, passed away Monday, April 19, 2004 at Carteret General Hospital. Mrs. Carter was born August 15, 1944 in Miami, Fla. To Lewis Edwards & Dorothy Elizabeth Parker Riggs. Mrs. Carter was a certified nursing assistant. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother Sammy Riggs and a daughter, Melinda Evans Carter. Survivors include: her husband, Billy Joe Carter of the home; two sons, James David Carter of Beaufort, NC, Edward Carter and wife Sandy of Lenoir; two daughters, Billie Jo Cassteves and husband Michael of Ronda, Elizabeth Romero and husband Daniel of Harmony; a brother, Robert Riggs of Florida; three sisters, Frances Carter of Elkin, Hannah Riggs of Eden, Linda Martin of State Road; eight grandchildren. A graveside service will be held Thursday, April 22, 2004 at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. by Rabbi Fredrick Laye. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to Respiratory Care at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital. Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin is serving the Carter Family.
