Virgie Wilcox Richardson

Mrs. Virgie Wilcox Richardson, age 72 of Elkin, passed away Friday, September 30, 2011 at Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. Mrs. Richardson was born May 24, 1939 in Wilkes County to Floyd and Bessie Mae Grogen Wilcox. She was a dedicated member of Central Full Gospel Church and she loved gardening and her family. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a son, Donald Lee Richardson; sisters, Eva Houck, Gladys Pardue, Edna Pardue, Mabel Nichols, Opal Swaim, and Viola Burchette; and brothers, Clint Wilcox, and Warner Wilcox. Survivors include: sons, Joseph Daniel Richardson and his wife Ernestine Lee of Hays, Thomas Wayne Richardson and his wife Vanessa of Roaring River, and Rev. Tony Joe Richardson and his wife Theresa of Elkin; daughter, Donna Marie Luffman and her husband Chet of State Road; special goddaughter, Diane Myers of Lexington; brother, Rev. Roby Wilcox and his wife Bertha Mae of Elkin and Johnny Wilcox of N. Wilkesboro; sister, Ruth Anderson of Walkertown; eight grandchildren, Joshua Richardson, Adam Richardson, Frances Shoemate, Kenneth Armstrong, Mindy Richardson, Scott Richardson, Anthony Richardson, and Adam Luffman; two grand godchildren, Travis Myers and Brandon Myers; eight great grandchildren and four great grand godchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, October 2, 2011 at 4:00 p.m. at Central Full Gospel Church with Rev. Bobby Norman officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. The family would like to thank the staff of Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home for their care.
