Sparks Mrs. Dossie Bernice Haynes Sparks, age 79, of State Road, passed away Monday, February 25, 2008 at Forsyth Medical Center. Mrs. Sparks was born May 29, 1928 in Wilkes County to Grover & Verna Dale Brown Haynes. Mrs. Sparks was a member of State Road Pentecostal Holiness Church and was retired from Lowe's Foods. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Paul Ayers; a daughter, Teresa Kay Andrews, her stepfather, Narvin Stonestreet, a son-in-law, Gray Crater. Survivors include: her husband, Ed Sparks of the home; four sons, Richard Sparks and wife Shirley of State Road, Clyde Sparks and wife Pricilla of Florence, SC, Gary Sparks and wife Starr, Jerry Sparks and wife Teresa all of State Road, a stepson, Charles Sparks and wife Carol of Hayes; three daughters, Barbara Meeks and husband Jim of Florence, SC, Bonnie Fowler and husband Tony of Winston-Salem, Brenda Hawks and husband Tracy of Pleasant Ridge, a stepdaughter, Pansey Ballard of Statesville; a son-in-law, Donald Andrews of State Road; twenty-four grandchildren; twenty-four great grandchildren, seven great-great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 28, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at Hodges Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Gary Tatum. Burial will follow at Crestwood Memorial gardens. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin. Mrs. Sparks family would like to say thank you to a special caregiver, Phyllis Collins and to a special friend, Linda Hodges for her years of friendship.
