State Road Mr. Harvey Luther Settle, age 71, of Pleasant Ridge Road, State Road, passed away Tuesday, October 18, 2005 at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital. Mr. Settle was born June 30, 1934 in Wilkes County to Ernest Clifton & Flossie Lyons Settle. Mr. Settle was a veteran of the United States Army and served in Korea and he was member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church where he was a deacon and Sunday school teacher. He was the owner of Nuline Printing, Photography and Embroidery. Harvey enjoyed exercising and was an avid golfer and gardener. He adored his grandchildren and was very caring to all people but especially to widows' widowers. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Denise Minton and two brothers, Clarence Settle and Lawrence Settle. Survivors include: His wife, Mildred "Millie" Holbrook Settle of the home; a son, Eddie Settle and wife Sheila of Elkin; a son-in-law, Jackie Minton and wife Robin of Elkin; six brothers, Clyde Settle of Mooresville, Mack Settle of Roaring Gap, Ray Settle of Elkin, Jack Settle of Newton, Avery Settle of Elkin and David Settle of Winston-Salem; two sisters, Ester Holbrook and Zeola Holbrook both of Ronda; five grandchildren, Melissa Settle, Matthew Settle, Logan Minton, Emily Minton and Jade St. John; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 20, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church by Rev. Daniel Merritt, Rev. Glenn Byrd and Rev. Homer Greene. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church.
