Mrs. Helen Beatrice Spann Woodruff, age 81, of Lyle Street passed away Saturday August 4, 2007 at Hugh Chatham Nursing Center. Mrs. Woodruff was born March 6, 1926 in Surry County to Hillary William and Bertha Miller Spann. Mrs. Woodruff was a homemaker and a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Thomas Lee Woodruff; one brother Alton Spann; two sisters Wanda Church and Barbara Bauguess. Survivors include; a daughter Tommie Ann Tulbert and her husband Randy of Elkin; one granddaughter Ashley Wagoner of Concord and one great granddaughter Emma Holmes of Concord; one brother, Johnny Spann and his wife Nancy of Jonesville; three sisters, Mary Linda Anderson of Jonesville, Hilda Hanes of Winston Salem, and Myrtle Douglas of Burlington. A graveside service for Mrs. Woodruff will be held at 2pm Tuesday August 7, 2007 at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church cemetery conducted by Rev. Brian Rummage. In lieu of flowers the family request that memorials be made to Meals on Wheels Program Po. Box 618 Elkin, NC. 28621.
