Mrs. Katherine Jones Pardue, age 88, of Texas Street, Elkin, passed away Sunday, November 7, 2010 after a short stay at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital with her loving son and daughter-in-law at her side. Mrs. Pardue was born November 21, 1921 in Wilkes County to Jesse C. & Florida Anderson Jones, Sr. Mrs. Pardue was a good woman and retired after working for more than 30 years at Spainhour's department store in downtown Elkin. Katherine was a long time member of Elkin First Baptist Church. She believed in God and read the Bible cover to cover twice. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert Martin Pardue; five brothers; four sisters; two loving pets Peaches & Ginger. Survivors include: a son, Ronnie "Ron" Pardue and his wife Kathy of Kernersville; brother-in-Law Thomas Drake Pardue and his wife Ailene of Boonville. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 10, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Elkin Funeral Service Chapel by Dr. Bill Johnson. Burial will follow at Crestwood Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mount Airy, NC 27030 or to the Charity of the donor's choice. The family would like to give a special thanks to Katherine's wonderful neighbors and friends, and to the kind and compassionate people at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital for the excellent care she received.
