Elkin Mrs. Imogene Nixon Stone Carter, age 91, of Johnson Ridge Road, passed away Wednesday, March 15, 2006 at Hugh Chatham Nursing Center. Mrs. Carter was born October 9, 1914 in Surry County to James Patterson & Charlotte Snow Nixon. Mrs. Carter was retired from Washington Mills and was a member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her 1st husband, Howard H. Stone and her 2nd husband, Charlie Carter; six brothers, Reece Nixon, Talmadge Nixon, Worth Nixon, Ray Nixon, Orville Nixon and Bill Nixon; two sisters, Mary Lee Walters, Ruth Fortune. Survivors include: a son, Wayne Stone and wife Georgie of State Road; a daughter, Donna Eldridge and husband John of State Road; two sisters, Doris Gentry of State Road, Nancy Reed of Salem, VA; sisters-in-law, Molly Nixon of Elkin, Geneva Nixon of Pfafftown, and Belle Nixon of Stoneville; four grandchildren, Melanie Eldridge Miles and husband Richard of Morehead, KY, Edward Eldridge and wife Kim of East Bend, Mariah Stone Klein and husband Alan of Atlanta, GA; Robert H. Stone of Raleigh; five great grandchildren, Laura & Nathan Miles, Schuyler & Peyton Eldridge, Orli Klein. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 18, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at Hodges Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. John Attaway. Burial will follow at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday one hour prior to the service from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin.
