John Carlin Dalton

August 17, 1923 — January 29, 2008

Ronda Mr. John Carlin Dalton, age 84, of Macedonia Church Road, passed away Tuesday, January 29, 2008 at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital. Mr. Dalton was born August 17, 1923 in Carroll County Virginia to Forest & Clyde Largen Dalton. Mr. Dalton was retired from Lucia and was a member of Little Elkin Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the United States Navy. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter Becky Caldwell at age 58 from Ohio. Survivors include: his wife Peggy Hemric Dalton of the home; two sons, David Dalton and wife Denise of Winston-Salem, NC, Jonathan Dalton and wife Tara of Elkin; two granddaughters, Chloe & Halina Dalton; two sisters, Kathleen Lyon and husband W.C. of Hillsville, VA, Maxie Webb of Roanoke VA; a son, Giles Dalton and wife Rita of Ohio; two stepdaughters, Tedi Young and husband Vallie, Betty Ann James and husband Vic all of Ohio; four grandsons, Ricky, Randy and Bobby Caldwell and Ian Dalton; thirteen great grandchildren; a son-in-law, Bob Caldwell, numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Friday, February 1, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at Little Elkin Baptist Church by Rev. Gwyn Anderson. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mr. Dalton will lie instate 30 minutes prior to the service. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin.
