Mrs. Mary Caudle Norman, 92 of Elkin, passed away Saturday, November 13, 2010 at Hugh Chatham Nursing Center. Mrs. Norman was born August 28, 1918 in Surry County to William and Delia Willard Caudle. She was a member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church and owned and operated Norman's Archery with her husband Thomas. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Norman was preceded in death by her husband Thomas Clinton Norman; two sisters, Clara Caudle and Dorothy Wall; and five brothers, Kip Caudle, Ervin Caudle, David Caudle, Fred Caudle, and Orville Caudle. She is survived by two daughters, Yvonne Sturdivant and husband John of Jonesville and Debbie Darnell and husband Jeff of Elkin; one sister, Betty Griffith of Clemmons; four grandchildren, Rita Saldivar, Ray Caudill, Wendy Haynes, and Daniel Byrd; six great grandchildren, Heather Hemric, Raina Saldivar, Sydney Haynes, Molly Haynes, Nicholas Byrd, and Natalie Byrd; and three great great grandchildren, Deserae Milligan, Zell Milligan, and Vincent Milligan. A graveside service will be conducted Monday, November 15, 2010 at 4:00pm at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Roger Hensley officiating. The family will receive friends Monday afternoon from 3:00 to 4:00 in the old sanctuary of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice 688 N. Bridge Street, Elkin, NC 28621 or to the charity of the donor's choice. The family wishes to thank the staff of the 700 Unit at Hugh Chatham Nursing Center and the staff of Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care.
