Hilary Martin Byrd

Elkin Mr. Hilary Martin Byrd, age 61, of Byrd Curve Road, passed away Wednesday, November 02, 2005 at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital. Mr. Byrd was born January 15, 1944 in Surry County to Otis Fletcher & Iris Sexton Byrd. Mr. Byrd was a member of Benham Baptist Church, Benham Ruritan Club and R.E.A.C.T. Club. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Ruth Byrd; paternal grandparents, Hilary & Sally Byrd; maternal grandparents, Martin & Elvira Sexton. Survivors include: his mother, Iris Sexton Byrd of Elkin; two brothers, Billy Byrd and wife Joyce of Staley, Wallace Byrd and wife Faye of Elkin; two sisters, Paulette Burcham and husband Ronald; Jean Simpson and husband Don all of Elkin. Funeral services will be held Friday, November 4, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at Benham Baptist Church by Rev. Jason Wiles, Rev. Trent Wall and Rev. Ted Combs. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mr. Byrd will lie instate 30 minutes prior to the service. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin. The family will accept flowers or memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association PO Box 1131, Fairfax, VA 22038-1131.
