Hodges Funeral Home Elkin, NC State Road Mrs. Barbara Jean Cundiff, age 59, of Mount Pleasant Church Road passed away Friday February 22, 2008 at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Cundiff was born November 23, 1948 in Alleghany County to J.B. and Nellie Shaw Andrews. Mrs. Cundiff retired from CFL and was a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church. During her early forties Barbara continued her education and graduated from Surry Community College with a degree in accounting. Barbara enjoyed bowling in the mixed league teams at Blue Ridge Lanes in Jonesville. In addition to her father, Mrs. Cundiff was preceded in death by her adopted father, Edwin Ketterling. Survivors include: Three sons; Rodney Waldrop and friend Lisa Wilkins of State Road, Dale Bartley and fiancee' Sarah Crouse of Dobson, Richard Bartley and wife Joanna of State Road. Two step-sons; Tony Cundiff and Mario Cundiff both of Richmond, VA. Four step-daughters; Trina Cundiff of Richmond, VA, Donna Miller of Mt. Airy, Deana Falke of Pilot Mtn, Gina Stoltzfus of Traphill. Her mother, Nellie Shaw Ketterling of Glade Valley. Two Brothers, Edwin Ketterling of Lynchburg, VA, Gary Ketterling of Glade Valley. Three sisters, Phyllis Wease of King, Joanie McCann of Mt. Airy, Susie Stufarack of Richmond, VA. Eight grandchildren, Ashana Bartley, Charles Bartley, Kayla Bartley, Mark Bartley, Thomas Bartley, Brooke Bartley, Lindsey Bartley, Aiden Bartley. Her best friend, Linda Brooks. Marty "Uncle June" Andrews. Funeral service will be held Monday at 2:00 pm at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church by Rev. Everett Shaw. Burial will follow in the Church cemetery. Mrs. Cundiff will lie instate thirty minutes prior to the service. The family will receive friends Sunday from 7-9 pm at Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin. The family will accept flowers or memorials may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice.
