Ronda Mr. David Jessie Mickel, age 65, of Bullard Blvd, Ronda, passed away Wednesday, May 18, 2005 at his residence. Mr. Mickel was born December 19, 1939 in Surry County to Wm. McKinley & Frauline Caudle Mickel. Mr. Mickel was owner of David Mickel Trucking and was a member of Brier Creek Baptist Church where he was deacon for many years and served as chairman. He was also a Sunday school teacher and Sunday school superintendent. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, James Mickel and Sherman Mickel. Survivors include: his wife, Nancy Bullard Mickel of the home; a son, Jeffrey David Mickel and his wife Cynthia of Roaring River; two daughters, Pamela Mickel Walker and her husband Deryal of Pilot Mountain, Elizabeth Mickel Greene and her husband Jeremiah of Graham, NC; two sisters, Margaret Smith and her husband James E. of Ronda, Betty Perkins of Jackson, Miss.; three grandchildren, Carlie Mickel, Katlyn Mickel and Isabella Greene. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 21, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at Brier Creek Baptist Church by Rev. Alvin Johnson. Mr. Mickel will lie instate 30 minutes prior to the services. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin.
