Mr. James Bert Watkins, age 48 of Elkin, passed away Tuesday, July 26, 2011 at 5:35 a.m. at Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home. James was born March 5, 1963 in Fairmont West Virginia to Edgar Nelson and Myrtle Rebecca McKinney Watkins. He was a very loving, caring, and devoted son, husband, father, grandfather, and friend. James served in the U.S. army for 18 ½ years and was a devoted member of the Elkin Volunteer Fire Department. He also loved spending time with his family. James was preceded in death by his mother. Survivors include his wife, Kimberly D. Watkins of the home; son, C.J. Watkins of the home; daughters, Kristina Palsrok and her husband Zack of Jonesville and Amanda Hall and her husband David of Elkin; grandchildren, Jacob and Christopher Palsrok and Lucas and Breanna "Buttercup" Hall; father, Edgar Watkins of Elkin; brothers, Steven Watkins of Elkin, Scott Watkins and his wife Barb of West Virginia, Richard Watkins of Florida; sister Kim DeVall and her husband Buck of West Virginia, Marcia Bonsell and her husband Steve of Pennsylvania. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, July 30, 2011 at 4:00 p.m. in Elkin Funeral Service chapel with hospice chaplain Bill Johnson officiating. Burial will full military honors will follow in Hollywood Cemetery in Elkin. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service. The family requests that memorials be made to Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Road, Dobson, NC 27017.
