Robert Marshall Blackburn

January 30, 1922 — March 24, 2007

Thurmond Mr. Robert Marshall Blackburn, age 85, of South Center Church Road, passed away Saturday March 24, 2007 at Elkin Healthcare Center. Mr. Blackburn was born in Wilkes County on January 30, 1922 to James Marshall and Etta Combs Blackburn. Mr. Blackburn was a veteran of the United States Air Force and of the Baptist faith. In addition to his parents, Mr. Blackburn was preceded in death by three brothers, Boyden Blackburn, Clonnie Blackburn, Howard Blackburn and a sister, Lula Spicer. Survivors include: Two nephews, W.D. "Dub" Blackburn of State Road, Rickie Blackburn of Elkin. Two nieces, Carolyn Reinhardt of Thurmond, Iva Lee West of Kernersville. A graveside service will be held Tuesday March 27, 2007 at 3pm at New Light Baptist Church Cemetery by Rev. James Hall. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 1-2 pm at Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin. Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin is serving the Blackburn family.
