Mrs. Bessie Lee Hanks Burcham age 79, of Austin Traphill Road passed away Saturday March 17, 2007 at Elkin Health Care. Mrs. Burcham was born January 2, 1928 in Wilkes County to Thomas Blain and Roosevelt Phillips Hanks. Mrs. Burcham was a homemaker and a member of Benham Baptist Church. In addition to her parents Mrs. Burcham was preceded in death by a brother Charles "Bud" Hanks, and a sister Hilda Hanks Wallo. Survivors include: her husband Jimmie Lee Burcham of the home, two daughters Inez Turner and her husband J.C. of Jonesville, April Burcham of Elkin; two sisters, Ruth Brown and her husband John and Flora Coe, all of Elkin; three grandchildren, Yvonne Cockerham, Michelle Jarvis and Nicholas Lyon; and four great grandchildren Kehlyn Jarvis, Brie Jarvis, Lillian Cockerham and Jada Lyon. Funeral services for Mrs. Burcham will be held Monday March 19, 2007 at 11:00am at Benham Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Jason Wiles. Mrs. Burcham will be placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6:30 - 8:30 at Hodges Funeral Home. The family will accept flowers or memorials may be made to Benham Baptist Church 8679 Greenhorn Road Elkin, NC 28621.
