Statesville Mrs. May Louise Bryant Pardue, age 91 of Autumn Care of Statesville, passed away Tuesday, August 21, 2007 at Autumn Care. Mrs. Pardue was born March 13, 1916 in East Saint Louis, Missouri to Jessie and Mabel Bryant and grew up in Green Cove Springs, Florida. Mrs. Pardue attended Appalachian State Teachers College and then began a teaching career in Ronda, North Carolina where she met her husband, Burnis Hillman Pardue. She also taught school in Jonesville, North Carolina but spent most of her 33 year teaching career in Elkin, North Carolina School System where she taught English and Physical Education. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters and her husband of 65 years. Survivors include a son, Garland Pardue and his wife Janice; a daughter, Martha Hardin and her husband Charles; a brother-in-law, Avery Pardue and his wife Dixie; sisters-in-law, Camilla Pardue and Wilhemina Pardue; four grandchildren and six great grandchildren. A graveside service will be held Friday, August 24, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery by Rev. Phillip Tillman, Hospice Chaplain. In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorials be made to Alzheimer's Association Western Carolina Chapter, 3800 Shamrock Drive, Charlotte, NC 28215-3220.
