Elkin Mr. Ancle Monroe Couch, age 81, of Ancle Couch Drive passed away Saturday December 3, 2005 at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital. Mr. Couch was born February 22, 1924 in Wilkes County to Milas Monroe and Jossie Day Couch. Mr. Couch retired from NC Department of Transportation and was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church where he had 30 years of perfect attendance in Sunday school. Mr. Couch served in the U.S. Army during WWII and was at Anzio Beachhead in Sicily during the evasion of Normandy. In addition to his parents Mr. Couch was preceded in death by two sisters, Beulah Wiles and Cora Mae Couch. Survivors include: His wife of 60 years, Mozelle Oliver Couch of the home. Three sons and daughters in law, Terry M. Couch and his wife Pamm of Advance, Nathan A. Couch and his wife Debra of Siler City and Eric M. Couch of the home. Two grandchildren, Jason T. Couch and his wife Amber, Heather Couch Miller and her husband James. One great grandchild, Caleb James Miller. Two sisters, Eva Lou Campbell of Charlotte, Maxine Hill and her husband James of Winston Salem. A brother in law, Stacy Wiles of Elkin. Funeral services will be held Monday December 5, 2005 at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church at 2:00 pm by Dr. Gary Byrd and Hank Campbell. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mr. Couch will lie instate thirty minutes prior to the service. The family will receive friends Sunday from 7-9 pm at Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin is serving the Couch family.
