Ruby Beatrice Parks Pruitt, 94 of Traphill, passed away Wednesday, September 23, 2009. She was born December 12, 1914 in Wilkes County to Chye & Martha Ellen Handy Pruitt. Mrs. Pruitt was a member of Roaring River Methodist Church and attended Traphill Baptist Church. She worked as a dental hygienist for more than thirty years. Mrs. Pruitt was preceded in death by her first husband, Eugene Parks; her second husband, Kermit Pruitt; a daughter, Julia Parks Norman; two brothers, Robert Pruitt and Lawrence Pruitt; two sisters, Rosalie Banks and Zell Kearney. She is survived by a son, Julius Parks & wife Ginger of Roaring River; a daughter, Barbara Sparks & husband Jack of Kernersville; two step daughters, Nancy King of Greensboro and Pat Harmeson of Sparta; a son-in-law, Roger Norman of Thurmond; five grandchildren, Curtis Sparks, Donna Parks, Roger Norman II, Ryan Norman, and Rebecca King; three great grandchildren, Robert Allen Sparks, Dylan Sparks, and Jared Wood; one great-great grandchild, Noah Jacob Sparks. A funeral service will be conducted Saturday, September 26, 2009 at 4:00pm at Elkin Funeral Service Chapel. Burial will follow in Roaring River Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at Elkin Funeral Service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Roaring River Methodist Church, 1311 Somers Road, Ronda, NC 28670. Elkin Funeral Service is serving the Pruitt family.
