Boonville Mrs. Linda Lou Burchette, age 78, of Rockhouse Mountain Road, passed away Thursday, April 5, 2007 at her residence. Mrs. Burchette was born March 9, 1929 in Yadkin County to Dewey & Clara Reece Southard. Mrs. Burchette was retired from the Department of Labor and was an active member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church where she was a Sunday School Teacher, member of the choir and volunteered during Vacation Bible School. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thurmond Burchette; a daughter, Judy Honeycutt; a sister, Peggy Harris, her stepfather, John Armstrong; and a great granddaughter, Darla Atkinson. Survivors include: a stepson, Davis Burchette and wife Joy of Alabama; a daughter, Jackie Spivey and husband William of Boonville; nine grandchildren, Joshua Burchette, David Burchette, Renee Anthony, Tatjana Spivey, Adriana Pendergrass, Carlton Sanders, Melanie Atkinson, Kim Fenn and Suzanne Moose; eight great grandchildren, Ashley Caudle, Bryant McDonald, Ryan McDonald, Katelyn Pendergrass, Ayden Pendergrass, Danielle Atkinson, Devin Atkinson, Zoe Fenn, Eric Moose; an aunt, Mable Freitag and husband Charles of Maryland; a nephew, Billy Harris and wife Melissa of Jonesville; several nieces and nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be held Sunday, April 8, 2007 at 4:00 p.m. at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church by Rev. John Attaway and Rev. Craig Waldie. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Burchette will be placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 7:00-9:00 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin.
