Ruth Ellen Potter

N. Wilkesboro Ruth Ellen Ray Potter, age 84, of Forest Road, passed away Sunday November 30, 2008 at her residence. Mrs. Potter was born in Surry County, March 8, 1924 to Claude W. and Bertha Gilliam Ray. Mrs. Potter retired from Lowes Companies and was a member of Hinshaw Street Baptist Church. In addition to parents she was preceded in death by a sister, Hazel Ray and a brother, Philip Ray. Survivors include: Her husband, Montie Hugh Potter of the home. A son, Wesley Hugh Potter of N. Wilkesboro. A daughter and son in law, Mona Ruth Potter Hecker and husband Frank of Ellicott, MD. A granddaughter, Emily Rose Ruth Ann Hecker. A brother, Roger Ray and wife Irene of Elkin. Three sisters, Anna Laura Burcham and husband Mason of Elkin. Evon Lovett Parker of Winston Salem, Betty Ray Marion of Elkin. Funeral services will be held Wednesday December 3, 2008 at 2:00 pm at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church by Rev. Daryl Carter. Burial will follow in the Church cemetery. Mrs. Potter will lie instate thirty minutes prior to the service.
