Mr. Billy Migs Mathis, age 82 of Ronda has gone to his heavenly home to reunite with his loving wife Ruby on Friday, July 2, 2010 at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital. He was born June 21, 1928 in Wilkes County to Thomas and Maggie Greene Mathis. Mr Mathis was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was loved by all who were blessed enough to pass his way. Mr. Mathis not only loved his family but his community. He was one of the first board members of the Clingman Medical Center and was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church for many faithful years. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Ruby Mathis who passed away October 26, 2006. Survivors include: Judy Whitaker and husband Dariel of Elkin and Linda Kay Key and husband Terry of Ronda, grandchildren Teddy Whitaker and wife Elizabeth of Thurmond, Lisa Shoemaker and husband Mike of Hamptonville, great grandchildren Kaila Shoemaker, Caleb Shoemaker, and Cody Whitaker. Funeral services will be conducted Monday, July 5, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. in Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Dennis Murphy and Rev. Steve Mahaffey officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Following the service a meal will be provided in the fellowship hall. The family will receive friends Monday afternoon one hour prior to the service at the church. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be sent to Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, 3982 Clingman Road, Ronda, NC 28670. The family wishes to thank everyone for their prayers, cards, and visits.
