Ronda Mrs. Vallie Lee Sparks Howell, age 96, of Macedonia Church Road, passed away Friday, April 22, 2005 at her residence. Mrs. Howell was born February 14, 1909 in Wilkes County to John & Mary Jane Benge Sparks. Mrs. Howell was retired from Chatham Manufacturing and was an active member of Maple Springs United Methodist Church Choir for many years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clark Lee Howell; a granddaughter, Debbie Waddell; six sisters, three brothers. Survivors include: two sons, Jimmy Howell and wife Priscilla of Elkin, Jackie Howell and wife Claris of Ronda; three daughters, Mary Belle Caudle and husband Jesse of Statesville, Linda Park and husband Harold, Brenda K. Howell all of Ronda; a sister, Nell Sale of Ronda; two sisters-in-law, Mabel Sparks of Virginia and Aline Sparks of Ronda; seven grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Monday, April 25, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at Maple Springs United Methodist Church by Rev. Rex Cranfill and Rev. Phil Edwards. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Howell will lie instate 30 minutes prior to the service. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Maple Springs United Methodist Church Choir Fund.
