Barbara Pardue Wall, 87, of Elkin, went to be with the Lord on Monday, October 25, 2010. After living independently up until recently, she died peacefully at the Hugh Chatham Nursing Center surrounded by her family. She was born to Mary A. Mae Etta Draughn and Houston Jones Carter. Later in her youth, she was adopted by Hattie Shore Pardue and Reverend Lloyd Pardue of Elkin, one of the founders of the East Elkin Baptist Church of which Barbara was a longtime member. Barbara retired from Chatham Manufacturing Company. She enjoyed sewing and making clothes for her children when they were young and then later for her grandchildren½s dolls and army men. Handcrafting gifts for family members throughout her years, she enjoyed crafts and all sorts of needlework including crocheting. She was preceded in death by her great grandson, Anthony David Schuh. She is survived by two sons, Donald Brenda Ross Wall, Larry Henry Verna Garris Wall and four daughters Patsy Jerry McCann, Brenda Ronnie Lyon, Debbie Doug Wall, and Linda Carter; 12 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren. A funeral service will be conducted Wednesday, October 27, 2010 at 3:00 pm at Elkin Funeral Service Chapel with Rev. Wesley Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Crestwood Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. The family wishes to thank Dr. Bill Griffin, the staff of CAP Services of Wilkes Regional, Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital and Nursing Center along with the Mountain Valley Hospice for their kindness and consideration.
