James Paul Gentry

State Road, James Paul Gentry age 82 of Klondike Rd., passed away Monday, December 21, 2009 at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital. Mr. Gentry was born June 17, 1927 in Forsyth County to John Ralph and Martha Parker Gentry. He was retired from ADT Fire and Burglar company, and was a member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during WWII, and in Korea, and was a member of the Elkin-Jonesville Shriners , lodge 454. Mr. Gentry was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include: his wife Janice Wood Gentry of the home, three sons Stephen Gentry and wife Kristie of St. Road, Mike Gentry and wife Wendy of Lincolnton, and Alan Brown of Austin, Texas. Four daughters, Martha Gentry of Kure Beach, N.C., Connie Austin and husband David, of Canton, N.C., Maria Pace of Troutman, and Stacy Gentry Colbert of St. Road; one brother John R. Gentry of Monks Corner, SC, one sister Juanita Willey of Elkin, eighteen grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, December 24, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. in Elkin Funeral Service Chapel with Rev. Jack Gentry and Rev. Dan Merritt officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service. The family requests that memorials be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children, 950 West Farris Road, Greenville, SC 29605. Millitary honors will be provided by VFW post 10346 and Masonic rites will be provided by Elkin Masonic Lodge # 454.
