Vera Greene Matheson

February 7, 1918 — January 1, 2005

Hudson Mrs. Vera Greene Matheson, age 86, of Betts Street, passed away Saturday January 1, 2005 at Caldwell County Hospice. Mrs. Matheson was born February 7, 1918 in Davidson County to Rutheford H. and Nealie Hamby Adams. Mrs. Matheson retired from Caldwell County School System and was a member of Lakeview Baptist Church in Lenoir. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul E. Greene, her second husband, Grady L. Matheson, a son, John David Greene, a grandson, Bradley Williams, four brothers and four sisters. Survivors include: Three sons and daughters-in-law; Danny P. Greene of High Point, Joseph Keith Greene and wife Linda of Elkin, Julian E. Greene and wife Teresa of Lenoir. Three daughters and sons-in-law; Jeanette P. Brookshire and husband Bill of Lenoir, Winifred L. Setzer and husband Shober of Hudson, Nancy A. Taylor and husband Sonny of Lenoir. Two daughters-in-law; Sunsil Greene of Fayetteville and Linda Greene of Lexington. Twenty four grandchildren, thirty three great grandchildren, six great great grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday January 4, 2005 at 2:00 pm at Lakeview Baptist Church by Rev. Ron Burgett and Rev. Robert Brown. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12-1:30 pm prior to the service at Lakeview Baptist Church. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Caldwell County Hospice, Hospice Lane, Lenoir, NC 28645.
