Psalm 73 v.26 KJV Mr. James Avery Hayes, Jr., age 78, of Woodland Drive, passed away Tuesday, April 3, 2007 at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital. Mr. Hayes was born February 6, 1929 in Detroit, Michigan to James Avery & Minnie Durham Hayes, Sr. Mr. Hayes was retired from Chatham Manufacturing and was of the Baptist Faith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Ben Hayes and a sister, Willow Miller. Survivors include: two sons, Stanley Hayes of Charlotte, James Hayes of Copeland; a brother, Hope Hayes of Lexington; two sisters, Patricia Crabb and husband Lonnie of Lexington, Havalyn Jolley and husband Robert of State Road. A graveside service will be held, Friday, April 6, 2007 at 3:30 p.m. at Poplar Springs Baptist Church Cemetery by Rev. Alex Jackson. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service Friday from 1:00-3:00 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 102454, Atlanta, GA 30368-2454.
