Elkin Mr. Roy Lee Prevette, Sr., age 87, of Hawthorne Road, passed away Wednesday, October 11, 2006 at Britthaven of Wilkes. Mr. Prevette was born June 15, 1919 in Wilkes County to John L. & Mary Glass Prevette. Mr. Prevette was a veteran of the United States Navy and served during World War II as a Merchant Marine. He was a member of Elkin First Baptist Church and the Elkin/Jonesville VFW and was the owner of Roy's Restaurant. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters. Survivors include: his wife, Ola Jean Cockerham Prevette of the home; two sons, Roy Lee Prevette, Jr. and wife Sharon of Winston-Salem, David Jeffrey Prevette and wife Sherry of Elkin; two daughters, Mary Jane Prevette of Winston-Salem, Kim Caballero and husband Herman of Elkin; one sister, Clester Hollaman of Jonesville; seven grandchildren, Christopher Prevette, Ross Prevette, Ryan Prevette, Nicole Prevette Shinault, Kimberly Hope Kimmel, Jessica Caballero, Tiffany Prevette; nine great grandchildren, Zachary Prevette, Nicholas Prevette, Isaac Prevette, Christoper Doss, Mason Doss, Destiny Rose, Christopher Kimmel, Joshua Shinault, Aalya Garcia. Funeral services will be held Sunday, October 15, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. at Elkin First Baptist Church by Dr. Bill Johnson and Dr. David Hughes. Burial will follow at Crestwood Memorial Gardens. The family will received friends Saturday evening from 7:00-9:00 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin.
