Lela Etha Reagan

Elkin Mrs. Lela Etha Watson Reagan, age 91, passed away Saturday July 25, 2009 at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Reagan was formerly of the Thurmond community, and had been a resident of Elkin Health Care for several years. She was born September 4, 1917 in Washington State to Fate and Annis Cockerham Watson. Mrs. Reagan was a homemaker and a member of Calvary Wesleyan Church, where she was the church organist for many years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her Husband, Rev. Jack Luther Reagan, three sisters, five brothers, and a great-granddaughter, Emma Fai Hooper. Survivors include: a son, Virgil Reagan and wife Veronica of Thurmond; Two Daughters, Hilda Newman and husband Tony of Thurmond and Phyllis Hinson of State Road; A "Special adopted daughter" Frances Whitaker of State Road; Eight grandchildren, Chris Newman and wife Cindy; Anita Carter and husband Chris; Rita Wiles and husband Neil; Robin Hooper and husband Ken; Joy Hinson; Nestor Hernandez; Ashae Reagan; Amy Lineberry and husband Buddy, and Eight great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Monday, July 27, 2009 at 6:30 p.m. at Poplar Springs Baptist Church, by Rev. Steve Kramm, and Rev. Jessie Garmon. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends, from 5:00 – 6:30 p.m. prior to the service.
