Elkin Mr. Mack Allan Gentry, age 70, of Preacher Field Road, passed away Wednesday, October 22, 2008 at his residence. Mr. Gentry was born August 4, 1938 in Surry County to Herman & Bertie Rose Gentry. Mr. Gentry was a home builder and was very involved in the Boy Scouts of America where he was a Boy Scout Master of Troop 656 in Wilkes County and he built many of the buildings at Raven Knob. Mack is a member of Charity United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include: his wife, Donna Maines Gentry of the home; two sons, Tracy Allan Gentry of Mt. Airy, Jason Sebastian Gentry of Elkin; a daughter, Erin Shore and husband Andy of Hamptonville; a brother, Frank Gentry and wife Jane of Elkin; four grandchildren, Matthew Gentry, Eli Shore, Cole Shore and Paige Gentry. Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 25, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at Charity United Methodist Church by Rev. Rex Cranfill and Rev. Tim Tucker. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mr. Gentry will lie instate 30 minutes prior to the service. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin.
