State Road, Mrs. Sue Martin Walters, age 78 passed away Saturday January 8, 2005 at Hugh Chatham Nursing Center. Mrs. Walters was born April 17, 1926 in Yadkin County to James Evan and Ina Mae Wagoner Martin. Mrs. Walters was a retired Medical Assistant from the practice of Dr. V.W. Taylor MD. Mrs. Walters was member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church where she served as Sunday School Director, Sunday School Teacher and choir member. Survivors include; her husband Corbet Walters of the home, two sons and daughter in-laws; James Walters and wife Johnnie of Jonesville, Bill Walters and wife Vickie of Asheboro. Two daughters and son in-laws; Susan Barker and husband Phil of North Wilkesboro, Chris Norman and husband Fred Jr. of Winston Salem. Five sisters, Dorothy Jones of Granite Falls, Mary Caudle of West End NC, Marion Johnson of Lincolnton, Norma Johnson of Elkin and Blendon Travis of Barnsville Ga. Eight grandchildren, Allison Ireland, Amy Murphy, Keena Sidden, Matthew Martin, Dustin Walters, Michelle Key, Casey Norman and Russell Norman, and four great grandchildren. Funeral service will be held Monday January 10, 2005 at 11:00am at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church by Rev. Chris Norman and Rev. John Attaway. Burial will follow in the church Cemetery. Mrs. Walters will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6-8:30 pm at Mt Pleasant Baptist Church Chapel.
