Roaring River Mrs. Nellie Jane McCann, age 91, of Greenhorn Road, passed away Monday, March 31, 2008 at her residence. Mrs. McCann was born April 16, 1916 in Wilkes County to Morgan & Martha Curry Jolly. Mrs. McCann was a homemaker and was a member of Pleasant Home Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Noah McCann, a son, Bobby McCann; four brothers, Lindsay, George, Tyra and Marcus; four sisters, Norean, Lovie, Dora and Lora; grandson, Randy McCann. Survivors include: a son, Rev. Harley M. McCann and wife Carolyn of Roaring River; a daughter, Agnes Childress of the home; a sister, Ester Younce of Lexington; a brother-in-law, Colon Barker of N. Wilkesboro; a daughter-in-law, Barbara Nations McCann; seven granddaughters, three grandsons; twenty three great grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 3, 2008 at 4:00 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Michael Darnell and Rev. Rom Shumate. Burial will follow at Pleasant Home Baptist Church. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin.
