Dixie Brown Freeman

Mrs. Dixie Brown Freeman, age 92 of Church Street passed away Wednesday July 4, 2007 at Hugh Chatham Nursing Center. Mrs. Freeman was born October 29, 1914 in Yadkin County to William Jones and Texie Price Brown. Mrs. Freeman was retired from Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital, she was a member Elkin First United Methodist Church where she had served as church treasurer, she was a life long member of United Methodist Women, and was a charter member of Elkin Garden Club. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Joseph William Freeman. Sr., and a son Joseph William Freeman, Jr.; two brothers and one sister. Survivors include three grandchildren, Hannah Cowles Freeman of Lexington KY., Joseph William Freeman III of Cullowhee NC., Nicole Magali Freeman of Elkin; one daughter in-Law, Leigh Freeman of Elkin and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 11:00am Monday, July 9, 2007 at Elkin First United Methodist Church conducted by Dr. Charles Baker. A graveside service will be held prior to the memorial service at 10:15am in Hollywood Cemetery. The family will receive friends following the memorial service in the church parlor. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Elkin First United Methodist Church.
