James Gray Shores

December 13, 1929 — December 10, 2008

State Road Mr. James Gray Shores, age 78, of Mining Ridge Church Road, passed away Wednesday, December 10, 2008 at Hugh Chatham Nursing Center. Mr. Shores was born in Surry County, December 13, 1929. Mr. Shores was a graduate of Mt. Park High School and retired from Floyd Roland Company in California. He was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church and was a veteran of the United States Navy and served from 1948-1952. He was preceded in death by his mother and her husband, Harvey Eugene & Louise Shores Hemric. Survivors include: wife, Patty Sue Johnson Shores of the home; a son, James Dean Shores and wife Virginia of State Road; a daughter, Kathy Christine Shores Skywalker and husband Dan of State Road; three grandchildren, Johnathan Bruis Stefanini and wife Alisha of California, Daryl Dean Shores, Travis Wesley Shores; great grandchild, Inara Jade Stefanini. Funeral services will be held Friday, December 12, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church by Rev. John Attaway. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1:00-2:00 p.m. at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorials be made to Mount Pleasant Baptist Church Building Fund, 109 Mount Pleasant Church Road, State Road, NC 28676.
