Vetrol Diamy Couch Tucker, 94 of Elkin, passed away Wednesday, September 9, 2009 at 12 Oaks Assisted Living. She was born on August 24, 1915 in Wilkes County to Charles R. and Mary Bell Couch Darnell. Mrs. Tucker was retired from Chatham's and was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, where she was a Sunday School Teacher and a member of the choir. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Tucker was preceded in death by her first husband, Manley Bonson Couch; second husband, Marcus Tucker; two daughters, Clara Kenyon & JoAnn Bauguess; two grandchildren, Gregory Lee & Jeffery Lee, and three brothers, David Darnell, Joe Darnell, & James Darnell. Mrs. Tucker is survived by two daughters, Linda Whitaker & husband Penny of Elkin and Gail Burchette & husband Perry of Ronda; one brother, John Darnell & wife Demmie of Elkin; two sisters, Lorene Gentry of Yadkinville and Mozelle Cooper of Elkin; nine grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and nine great-great grandchildren. A funeral service will be conducted Friday, September 11, 2009 at 2:00 pm at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church by the Dr. Jack Gentry, Mike Whitaker, Chris Carter, and Rev. Danny Dodd. Family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 pm on Thursday, September 10, 2009 at Elkin Funeral Service. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Senior Fund or charity of donor's choice. The family wishes to thank the staff of 12 Oaks Assisted Living and Mountain Valley Hospice for all of their loving care. Elkin Funeral Service is serving the Tucker family.
