Terry Lou Collins

August 16, 1956 — February 18, 2007

State Road Ms. Terry Lou Collins, age 50, of Pleasant Ridge Road, passed away Sunday, February 18, 2007 at Forsyth Medical Center. Ms. Collins was born August 16, 1956 in Surry County to Russell Lavern & Nonnie Adams Collins. Ms. Collins was a member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church where she was a member of the choir and she was employed with the NCDOT. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a nephew, Mark Edward Absher; her paternal grandparents, John & Laura McKaughn-Collins and maternal grandparents, Loton & Dossie Darnell Adams. Survivors include: her mother, Nonnie Adams Collins of State Road; a brother, Buddy Collins and wife Vicky of State Road; two sisters, Ann Collins Absher and husband Jerry of N. Wilkesboro, Marie Collins Poteate of State Road; one niece, Ashley Poteate; three nephews, Jeremy Absher and wife Becky, Aaron Poteate, Shane Collins; several special friends. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 21, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church by Rev. Daniel Merritt. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Ms. Collins will lie instate 30 minutes prior to the service. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin. The family will accept flowers or memorials may be made to Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church or to the Health Foundation of Wilkes.
