Roaring River Mr. Hobert Wood, age 69, of Hawks Road, Roaring River, passed away Tuesday, February 19, 2008 at Forsyth Medical Center. Mr. Wood was born February 2, 1939 in Wilkes County to Walter Lee & Ruth Curry Wood. He was a farmer and was a member of Gospel Light Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include: his wife, Gaye Wood of the home; a son, Joey Wood of Roaring River; two daughters, Deedee Combs and husband Jimmy, Dianna Shore and husband Bradley all of Roaring River; a foster child, Tricky Tutterow of the home; five brothers, Marvin Wood and wife Peggy, Don Wood all of N. Wilkesboro, Tony Wood and wife Sandra of Carrollton, GA, Jeff Wood and wife Brona of Roaring River; Len Wood and wife Ann of Welcome; two sisters, Georgia Tutterow of Moravian Falls, Brenda Elledge and husband Ernest of Lexington; seven grandchildren, Andrew Wood, Jordan Combs, Whitney Combs, Peyton "Tater" Wood, Isaac Shore, Jacob Shore, Samuel Shore. Funeral services will be held Friday, February 22, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at Rachel Baptist Church by Rev. Leon Mikles. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mr. Wood will lie instate 30 minutes prior to the service. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin.
