Mr. Dan Ervin Calhoun, age 67, passed away Monday, September 19, 2011 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born September 27, 1943 in Surry County to Early and Beulah Benge Calhoun. Mr. Calhoun was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He was a dedicated Christian that will be greatly missed. Mr. Calhoun was an ordained minister and enjoyed teaching Sunday school. He attended Jonesville Church of God. Mr. Calhoun was the owner and operator of Dan Calhoun Painting for over 40 years. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends and enjoyed cooking for them and he was an avid bass fisherman and hunter. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include: his wife Louise Johnson Calhoun of the home; daughter, Missy Calhoun of Jonesville; sons, Daniel Calhoun and his girlfriend Kelly Hutchens of Hamptonville and Rocky Bryant of Jonesville; brothers, J.C. Calhoun and his wife Darlene and Bobby Calhoun and his wife Barbara; sisters, Colleen Collins and her husband Clyde and Ann Pruitt and her husband Jimmy; special grandchildren, Amber Lynn Bryantand her fiance Blake Tilley and Jacob Rocky Bryant and several loving nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, September 22, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Jonesville Church of God with Rev. Ken Nelson, Rev. Eugene Moore, Rev. Tommy Nixon, and Rev. Tommy Conley officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Grove Baptist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff of Forsyth Medical Center for their care.
