Elkin Mr. Alex Chatham, Jr., age 90, of Pinewood Drive, passed away Wednesday, April 25, 2007 at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital. Mr. Chatham was born June 26, 1916 in Surry County to James Alexander & Grace Gwyn Chatham. Mr. Chatham was retired from Chatham Manufacturing where he was the Vice President of Purchasing. He was a member of First United Methodist Church and was a graduate of Duke University and Woodberry Forest and was a member of Cedarbrook Country Club. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Annie Laurie Lineback Chatham; a brother, Charles Gwyn Chatham; a sister, Frances Chatham Baldwin. Survivors include: two sons, Paul Gwyn Chatham of Lexington, James Alexander Chatham and wife Susan of Greenville, NC; two daughters, Barbara Chatham McCaslin and husband Randy of Kernersville, Suzanne Chatham Tate and husband Claude of Asheboro; six grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Evelyn Wood Chatham of Roanoke, VA; special cousins, Barbara Folger Chatham of Ronda; R.G. & Edie Chatham of Pinehurst; a host of nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held Friday, April 27, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at Hollywood Cemetery by Rev. Chuck Baker. The family would like to invite friends to celebrate Alex's life at his residence following the graveside service.
