Connie Bratt Holbrook

C. Bratt Holbrook, 86 of Elkin, passed away Sunday, January 24, 2010 at Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. Mr. Holbrook was born May 27, 1923 in Wilkes County to Oliver & Fannie Sprinkle Holbrook. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Mr. Holbrook was a member of Cool Springs Baptist Church. He served in the US Navy during WWII and retired from Yadkin Valley Telephone Membership. In addition to his parents, Mr. Holbrook was preceded in death by a daughter, Jeanette Holbrook; brothers, Jack Holbrook, Lauren Holbrook, Oren Holbrook, and twin brother Lonnie Holbrook; sisters, Asper Burton and Maxine Burton. He is survived by his wife, Ruth Davis Holbrook of the home; a son, James Holbrook & his wife Brenda of Elkin; two daughters, Elizabeth Mathis & husband R.G. of Ronda and Mary Lou Cheek & husband Phillip of Elkin; a sister, Ruby Henson of Elkin; four grandchildren, Ramona Hemric, Jeanie Barker, Jamie Holbrook, and Jason Holbrook; five great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at 2:00 pm at Cool Springs Baptist Church with Rev. David Key and Rev. Russ Nixon officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:30 to 8:30 pm at Elkin Funeral Service. The family wishes to thank Britthaven of Wilkesboro, Mountain Valley Hospice, sitters, family, and friends for all their love and care.
