James Slade Howell

January 9, 1931 — June 30, 2005

State Road Mr. James Slade Howell, age 74, of Woodberry Way, passed away Thursday, June 30, 2005 at Forsyth Medical Center. Mr. Howell was born January 9, 1931 in Lima Ohio to Fred T. & Imogene Rex Howell. Mr. Howell was retired from Chatham Manufacturing and was a member of St. Stephens Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include: his wife, Shirley Tierney Howell of the home; a daughter, Beth Howell Cheatham and husband Barry of Franklin, Va.; two grandchildren, Amy K. Cheatham of Blacksburg, Va., Sarah E. Blackburn and husband Sean of River Falls, Wisc.; a great grandson, Christopher Sean Blackburn. A memorial mass will be held Tuesday, July 5, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at Hodges Funeral Home Chapel by Father John Hanic. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to the American Heart Association, PO Box 5216 Glen Allen, VA 23058-5216 or to St. Stephens Catholic Church, Elkin, NC or to the Elkin Public Library. Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin is serving the Howell family.
