Jonesville Rev. Lonnie Vance Brown, age 71, of Plaza Street, passed away Monday, September 27, 2004 at Forsyth Semper Care. Rev. Brown was born June 14, 1933 in Alleghany County to Haywood & Faye Higgins Brown. Lonnie was retired from Chatham Manufacturing and was a former pastor for Elk Spur Baptist Church where he was a member. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Betty Jean Brown and several brothers and sisters. Survivors include: His wife, Betty Brown of the home; two sons, Lonnie Wayne Brown and wife Gail of Valdese, David Brown of Ronda; a daughter, Brenda Anthony and husband Brian of Elkin; two brothers, Leroy and Bill Brown; six sisters, Lizzie Shupe, Mary Waddell, Dorothy Edwards, Kay Osborne, Shirley Wall and Louise Royall; five grandchildren, Katlin Anthony, Adam Brown, Carissa Brown, Sarah Brown and Ethan Brown; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Friday, October 1, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Mickey Wiles, Rev. Donald Ball and Rev. Buddy Sizemore. Burial will follow at Glade Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin. Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin is serving the Brown family.
