Monty Taylor Carter

Elkin Mr. Monty Taylor Carter, age 68, of Edgewood Drive, passed away Wednesday, November 19, 2008 at his residence. Mr. Carter was born June 9, 1940 in Surry County to Floyd & Sadie Pinnix Carter. Mr. Carter was retired from Henderson & Wood Chevrolet and was a lifelong member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Billy Carter. Survivors include: his wife, Patricia "Ann" Carter of the home; three sons, Derek Carter and wife Wendy, Chris Carter and wife Anita, Joel Carter and wife Teresa all of Elkin; two brothers, Allen Carter and wife Shirley of Ronda, Donald Carter and wife Pam of Yadkinville; six grandchildren; Devin Carter, Cameron Carter, Bailey Carter, Sydney Carter, Noah Carter, and Madeline Carter. Funeral services will be held Sunday, November 23, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church by Rev. Danny Dodds, Rev. Alex McFarland and Rev. Jerry Fugate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mr. Carter will lie instate 30 minutes prior to the service. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 7:00-9:00 p.m. at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, c/o Benally Christmas Fund, 593 Pleasant Hill Drive, Elkin, NC 28621. The family would like to say a special thank you to Dr. Robert Peterson and his wife Gina and staff; Mountain Valley Hospice; and to all of their friends and family of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.
