Elkin Mr. David Carlo Darnell, age 89, of Old Wagon Road, passed away Thursday, November 02, 2006 at Elkin Healthcare. Mr. Darnell was born September 27, 1917 in Wilkes County to Charlie Reece & Mary Couch Darnell. Mr. Darnell was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and was retired from Chatham Manufacturing after 47 years of service. He was also a Merchant Marine. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Esther Collins Darnell; three brothers, Joseph Darnell, James Darnell, Charles Isaac Darnell. Survivors include: two sons, Leonard D. Darnell and wife Jackie, D. Garland Darnell and wife Debra all of Elkin; a daughter, Barbara D. Fasanella and husband Dr. Edwin L. Fasanella of Poquoson, VA. a brother, John Darnell of Elkin; three sisters, Loraine Gentry of Boonville, Vetrol Tucker and Mozelle Cooper both of Elkin; Grandchildren & Spouses, Annette Vidlak and husband John, Carolyn Moskowitz and husband Richard, Kenneth Fasanella, MD and wife Robyn, Debbie Nicholson and husband Keith, Rita Adkins and husband Terrell, Mark Darnell and wife Kelly, Jason Darnell, Michael Darnell, Kim Adams and husband Melvin; great grandchildren, Rose Adams, Erin, Anna, Grace & Julia Vidlak, Dana Moskowitz, Stephen & Mark Jordan, Tyler Adkins, Jessica, Cody, Kendall, Brandon, Kaelyn & Connor Darnell. Funeral services will be held Sunday, November 5, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church by Rev. Danny Dodds and Dr. Gary Byrd. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Music Ministry.
