Lorene Mathis

January 13, 1923 — April 22, 2004

Elkin Mrs. Lorene Wright Wolfe Mathis, age 81, of Lyles Street, passed away Thursday, April 22, 2004 at Britthaven. Mrs. Mathis was born January 13, 1923 in Surry County to Walter & Mary Elizabeth Reece Wright. Mrs. Mathis was a homemaker and a member of Jonesville United Methodist Church. She was the first librarian at Jonesville Public Library in 1961. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Roger Wolfe, Sr. Survivors include: a son, Jim Wolfe and wife Cheryl of Elkin; two daughters, Dr. Judith Wolfe of Hickory, Anne Wolfe Mastin of Roaring River; one brother, Wesley Wright of Martinez, California; a sister, Virginia Hutchens of Daytona Beach, Fla.; a half sister, Connie Triplett of Elkin; five grandchildren and three great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 24, 2004 at 4:00 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home Chapel by Dr. Monroe Huffman. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association 3800 Shamrock Drive #999 Charlotte, NC 28215-3220. Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin is serving the Mathis family.
