Alma Ruth Lassiter

February 2, 1924 — January 12, 2007

Elkin Mrs. Alma Ruth Lassiter, age 82, of South Street, passed away Friday, January 12, 2007 at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Lassiter was born February 2, 1924 in Randolph County to John Lee & Sally VonCannon Burkhart. Mrs. Lassiter was a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James O. Lassiter; four brothers, four sisters. Survivors include: four sons, James Leon Lassiter of Wilkesboro, Donald Ray Lassiter and wife Harriet of Jonesville, Alan Dale Lassiter and wife Bonnie of Arlington, Gary Lee Lassiter of Jonesville; a daughter, Elaine Barnes and husband Mike of Elkin; ten grandchildren; one step grandchild; eight great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Sunday, January 14, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Jerry Fugate. Burial will follow at Mount Calvary Baptist Church. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 7:00-9:00 p.m. at Hodges Funeral home in Elkin.
